Hello I'm Penny, I live/work in Melbourne (also grew up here).
I've been tattooing since I landed an apprenticeship in 2012. I wanted to be a tattoo artist because it was the coolest job I could think of and also somewhat related to extreme body mod stuff I was into at the time from going on BME a lot as a teenager.
Being in this career has been an amazing journey and it has been interesting to see how much tattooing has changed and evolved in the short time it feels like I've been a part of the industry.
I wanted to make this website for a few reasons. Like most creatives I am fueled by a burning hatred of social media, it's taxing having to keep up with constant changes designed to punish creators and sell garbage, while burning out humanity's dopamine receptors and harvesting data to sell to whoever. Unfortunately I have found that I get so much enjoyment from creating things, and then the pressure of having to post art on social media kind of ruins the enjoyment when art becomes reduced to a number of engagement metrics.
I also wanted to begin a fully customisable archive of works that is easier to manage and display. Growing up making geocities websites, coding neopets home pages and customising my profile on vampirefreaks.com (defunct goth myspace equivalent) has inspired this website design. There are lots of easter eggs so I hope you enjoy poking around.

Perhaps if you're on here you might be interested in getting tattooed by me, and wondering what it's like. I will try to describe my tattooing philosophy because it's about the only thing i take seriously!
I work in a small semi private shop (often its just me or max one other artist), it's as chill and relaxing of an environment as I can feasibly provide. I absolutely hate getting tattooed so I will bend over backwards to make it as comfortable as possible for you. I am happy to put numbing products on just about anything and have experience in using it to its fullest extent to make shitty spots doable.
I try and get sketches for custom designs sent out at least the day before the appointment (or earlier if asked for) to mitigate the anxiety of turning up on the day to a surprise design and make it easier to ask for changes. I really don't mind if you want to change everything about the design, reschedule or cancel appointments, ask for extra accommodations etc... Tattooing takes a lot of trust from both parties and I'm grateful to be trusted to transform people's skin!
I think being a 'safe space' should be something clients decide for themselves instead of a tagline businesses advertise as. But my shop is a pro LGBTQIA+ space DUH :3 (I identify as a member of the community), we love and respect all people regardless of size, shape, skin tone and I will do my absolute best to accommodate anything that supports clients medical needs or neurodivergent needs.
I am a capitalism hater and always try to charge for tattoos fairly, am upfront about prices and always stick to a quote or a budget. I try to stay as affordable as I possibly can and am very grateful to people that fit tattoos into their budget.
